With International Women's Day fast approaching, we thought we'd ask Berlin-based Room 4 Resistance founder and rising selector, Luz for a lil' rundown of some of her tips from non-male producers.
rRoxymore - Thoughts Of An Introvert - Don’t Be Afraid
"This track from my friend and Room 4 Resistance’s co-founder and resident rRoxymore was released last year on Don’t Be Afraid. I absolutely adore this whole release and I choose this track particularly because I already played the two other tracks from the EP on my recent Honcho podcast! Watch out for the subsequent EP, which will be released soon."
Deena Abdelwahed - Walk On, Nothing To See Here - Infiné
"Deena Abdelwahed totally blew my mind last December when she played for the first time at R4R. You should listen back to the live recording. It’s so sick. She’s since then became our new Artist In Residence and we’re extremely excited to welcome her in the fam. She’s such a brilliant DJ and producer who brings a fresh dose of innovation and experimentation through her productions. I played this track at Panorama Bar during CTM festival and it sounded awesome on that system!"
Octo Octa - Who I Will Become - 100% Silk
"I’ve had an absolute crush on Maya since I met last year in May. She played live for the party we organised with SIREN in Berlin. It was an absolutely stunning performance and to be honest she’s just one of my favourite person out there. This track particularly touches me, it’s prob my fave from her. I even started one of my sets at Room 4 Resistance with it last year. I love the soft melancholic vibes the track brings into the room."
Doc Sleep - Yr_Esq - Detour
"This track is from my partner in crime Doc Sleep - one of the most amazing, talented, kind and supportive people I know. We host the R4R radio show together on Rádio Quântica. This track is from their release on Detour and I’ve been playing this one around quite a lot back when it was released! Check-out as well the label they co-own Jacktone Records. They’ve been releasing a lot of talented woman and non-binary artists on that imprint."
Kaltès & Nene H. - Resist - Eotrax
"This powerful EP just came out on Eomac’s label Eotrax. I recently saw Nene H. play live in Berghain during CTM Festival and she was just next level… If you’re into industrial techno, better watch out for this duo. They’re going to make waves…"
