To celebrate having our Techno, Experimental & Electronica sections under massive (Claire asked me to stress) MASSIVE discounts this week, we thought who better to whet the appetite than asking one of the finest purveyors of everything experimental and otherworldy - NTS & Whities cohort Coby Sey (he's also probably the nicest man in the world).

Without further ado, here's Coby Sey with ten of his favourites.

Kwes // Chagall // ilp // Warp

For most of his album and EP releases, Kwes includes an instrumental track named after a favourite painter of his. This one particularly is equally blissful and chaotic -- and full of emotion. Kwes is truly exceptional.

Quirke // Cylinders // Whities 007 // Whities

Meditative. I wonder if Quirke will ever perform...

Kin Gong // Baozookheng // Voices // Discrepant

A recent purchase of mine. Relentless and attention holding without it being commanding.

Colin Stetson and Sarah Neufield // In The Vespers // Never Were The Way She Was // Constellation

I love the increased tension across this song and that it's noisey, without it being 'noisey'.

Prince // I Love U In Me // The Arms of Orion // NPG/Warner Bros

Ghostly; spectral. it's kind of a stark contrast to a lot of his exceptional work, which makes it stand out for me even more, regardless of the lyrical content. I prefer playing this track sped up. A lasting music influence. Long live Prince.

Miles Davis // Sanctuary // Bitches Brew // Columbia

Wayne Shorter, who's a saxophonist, wrote this piece for Miles Davis. Yet for me it's a signature Miles song.

Raum (Liz Harris and Jefre Cantu-Ledesma) // In Held Company // Event Of Your Leaving // Self-release/Glass, House

... This moves me.
